This website, News from Cornwall and Cornwall-on-Hudson, is presented as a means of building our community – and sharing it with people who may want to visit our village. Sign up in the column at the left to receive our free newsletter bringing you the latest news twice a week.
The site is conceived first of all as a Public Forum for the discussion of ideas about the village. In addition, we will provide occasional news items – as well as in-depth articles about the village’s past and plans for its future. The door is open to people who want to build our community online.
The site also offers the My Cornwall feature, a place where you and other readers can write your own blog or share photos and videos with the greater community. You can also use the free classified ads to sell your stuff or shop for good deals from other members.
The editor of the website is Nancy Peckenham, a village resident who brings 25 years of journalism experience to the job. For a decade she was an executive producer at CNN in Atlanta and in New York. Nancy has produced a half-dozen documentaries on issues of global conflicts that have aired on PBS and internationally.
With two books, many articles, and experience teaching writing at SUNY New Paltz, Nancy is helping local residents share their thoughts online while pursuing a vision of community journalism that provides news and information on the local scale.
