TIMOTHY P. HICKEY
May 15, 1979 – June 14, 2023
Cornwall, NY
Timothy “Tim” P. Hickey, of Cornwall, NY entered into eternal rest unexpectedly on June 14, 2023 at his home. He was 44 years old.
The son of John J. Hickey and Helen R. Hickey, Tim was born on May 15, 1979 in Newburgh, NY.
Tim attended elementary school from kindergarten to 8th grade at St. Thomas of Canterbury School in Cornwall, NY. He went on to graduate from Cornwall High School in 1997. He was a Security Guard at the Cornwall Hospital during his high school years. Tim graduated from Ramapo College in 2001. After two years serving the NYPD, he followed in his father’s footsteps and became a Firefighter with FDNY Engine 91 in Harlem, NY.
Tim was a parishioner at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church. He was a reserved person with a quiet gentle presence. He enjoyed being around his friends and family but did not like to be the center of attention. For those who were close to him, they saw his humor and levity. He was very funny and everyone who took the time to get to know him loved him. He was a devoted father and uncle, always up to go for a swim in the pool, play a game of catch outside, or watch a movie. He enjoyed taking his motorcycle out for a drive on a nice day. He was kind and patient, the best brother and son. He was always there for his friends and family, helping his dad cook a Sunday dinner or his mom watering her plants trying desperately to keep them alive. We will miss his gentle smile and generous laughter. Tim meant more to his family than he ever understood.
He will be missed greatly by all who knew him!
Tim is survived by his daughter, the sunshine of his life: Megan M. Hickey; his sisters: Mary B. (Hickey) Louey and her husband Jeremy of Montgomery, NY and Katie A. (Hickey) Bellamy and her husband Tim of Cornwall, NY; and by his nieces: Elizabeth and Sarah Louey and Amelia Bellamy; and by his nephew: Benjamin Bellamy.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 18th at Quigley-Sullivan Funeral Home, Inc., 337 Hudson Street Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 111:00 a.m. on Monday, June 19th at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, 340 Hudson Street, Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY. Interment will follow the Mass at St. Thomas Cemetery, Cornwall, NY.
