Tour an 1812 Ship at Newburgh Waterfront

All are invited to get into the “spirit” of Halloween and celebrate the docking of the Privateer Lynx, Oct. 20-24 at Riverfront Marina, 40 Front Street. With the exception of the ship tours and the Hudson River sails, all events are free. Sponsors are the City of Newburgh, Newburgh Free Library, and the Newburgh Armory Unity Center.

The Lynx is a square-rigged tall ship replica similar to those that plied the waters of the East Coast during the War of 1812. The replica was built a decade ago to serve an educational mission, teaching people about the struggle to preserve America’s Independence in the War of 1812. The public is invited to come on board and experience some history, hear songs of the sea and even take a sail this coming Saturday and Sunday. The city of Newburgh is also sponsoring a Halloween Costume Parade at Newburgh Landing, with prizes awarded.

Here are the details:

Ship Tours: Adults $7 children 12 & under FREE

Hudson River sail: Adults $55, Seniors & Active Military with ID, $45, Children (4 – 12) $30

Boarding Location: Riverfront Marina 40 Front Street, Newburgh, NY

Schedule of Events:

Thursday, Oct. 20 Noon All are invited to welcome the Lynx as it arrives at Riverfront Marina

Ship tours 1-6 p.m.

Pumpkin Lighting along the waterfront, 6-8 p.m.

Friday, Oct. 21 Ship Tours 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.

Music by Six Stories Told- 5-7 pm at Newburgh Landing

Pumpkin Lighting 6-8 pm

Saturday, Oct. 22 Ship Tours 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.

Hudson River Sail 3-5 p.m.

Halloween Costume Parade- 2-4 p.m. Meet at Newburgh Landing. Prizes for the funniest, prettiest, and the scariest! Open to all ages.

Sunday, Oct. 23 The West Point Pipe Band in concert at Newburgh Landing at 1 p.m.

Ship Tours from 10 am – 2 p.m.

Hudson River Sail 3-5 p.m.

Monday – Oct. 24 Ship Tours – 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
